Well , off I set for my fourth trip to Welham, having blanked successfully here three times and twice at two other venues. I was beginnig to doubt myself, tactics, bait you name it ,but at least none of my mates would see me blank this time ,(one of them suggested I change my name to BLANKO (you know who you are!)
Arrived at 6:30 pm and had a quick chat to Kelly, then set up on peg 10. Put out both rods on crab and eggshell boilies with pva bags of the same attached 10 yards to the right of the island and waited. Now based on my more recent trips that would have been that . I cast in fish bog off to other end of whichever lake I'm fishing!!!!
Not tonight though !!!! twenty past eight and the right hand rod screamed off. Five minutes later and one 9lb 6oz pristine common later I had broken my lean spell. To say I was chuffed would be an understatement to say the least . Six more fish follows up to 14Lb, all in excellent condition the last one being 8lb 4oz at 8:30 am . I got next to no sleep but who cares?
Finished off the day with an amazingly large breakfast cooked by the ever present Kelly and smiled all the way home.
Welham really is a great place to fish , well maintained and managed . Just one thing Gaz , can you tie a bell round Kelly's neck so that I can hear him coming??, Sneaks up on me every time and try's to give me a heart attack!!!!
